Summary

Minako Narita, known as Riko, was in high school when her family welcomed a new addition—Miguel, a nine-year-old boy from Peru. Rescued by her father during a period of unrest, Miguel arrived in Japan with a quiet demeanor, fluent in Japanese but distant and reserved. Despite his polite nature, he rarely smiled, keeping to himself. Riko, however, was determined to help him feel at home, introducing him to new experiences, including the excitement of basketball.

Years later, Miguel is now a high school student, having recently graduated from an international school. He excels in both academics and sports, particularly basketball, where his skills—like executing a dunk in front of his peers—leave everyone impressed. Yet, despite his talent and apparent love for the game, something holds him back. He hesitates, as if wrestling with an unseen fear or reluctance. The question lingers: What is he avoiding? What keeps him from fully embracing the sport he seems to enjoy? The answer remains hidden, leaving those around him curious and concerned.
