Summary

In the shadow of a prosperous city lies a forsaken slum, home to the descendants of outcasts and criminals. The privileged citizens beyond its borders scorn them, labeling them as “tribal people” with disdain. Among them is Rudo, an orphan raised by his adoptive father, Legto, who survives by relying on his remarkable physical strength. But fate turns cruel when Rudo is falsely accused of a crime and cast into the dreaded “Abyss”—a place so feared even the slum’s residents avoid speaking of it.

Rudo and Legto struggle to endure in the slums beneath the gleaming towers of the wealthy, where excess and waste are commonplace. Rudo, disgusted by the upper class’s extravagance, defies warnings and scavenges through the city’s discarded refuse, determined to salvage anything before it’s lost forever to the Abyss. This gaping chasm swallows everything deemed worthless—objects, dreams, and even people. Years ago, Rudo’s birth father met this fate, condemned to the Abyss after being wrongfully accused of murder. Now, history repeats itself as Rudo faces the same merciless judgment.
